Esteemed delegates, student officers, directors, and guests, Welcome to the General Assembly First Committee of West Lake MUN. My name is Prisha Jeswani, I am currently a sophomore at Hangzhou International School. It is my honor to serve as the Deputy President of the General Assembly 1.

I have participated in several MUN conferences within China and overseas including Yale MUN, South Korea. Based on my past experiences, I have had the privilege of creating countless memories with other delegates, chairs, admin, and secretariats. Additionally, this allows you to get an opportunity to enhance your overall understanding of discussions and debates. Moreover, to gain a broader perspective and point of view.

As an advice to all delegates, I encourage everyone to confidently express and showcase your ideas and thoughts. Do not hold back, be brave, and make sure to share your voice! Please feel free to approach me with any questions, concerns, or requests for clarification via email at jesp64462@hisdragons.org.cn. See you all in November!

Esteemed delegates, student officers, directors and guests, my name is Joshua Cui, currently a sophomore at Hangzhou International School.

Welcome to the General Assembly First committee, where it is my honor to serve as your president for West Lake MUN 2024: One step forward, two steps back.

I have participated a total of 4 MUN conferences, both chair and as a delegate. I myself would also like to use those experiences and assist you through your resolutions and debate. I believe that through this committee, not only will you develop your debate, public speaking, and discussion skills, but you can also gain a broad understanding of the conflicts our world is facing right now. It is up to you delegates at this time, at our conference, to make a change and stand up for what you think, representing your specific country.

I would also strongly recommend all delegates to take a look at the chair reports and have a draft resolution crafted for lobbying and merging, and start practicing your opening speeches. Please do not be frightened to deliver your voice in my committee, if you have any concerns you can contact me via email (cuij64804@hisdragons.org.cn) or wechat (utdfan_12). Thank you and I am looking forward to seeing your debates, thoughts and aspirations!
