Esteemed delegates, dedicated student officers, distinguished directors, and guests, welcome to the Crisis committee of West Lake MUN XIX! I am Fiona Jahnz, a senior at the German School Shanghai, and it is my pleasure to be your President for the upcoming conference.
This year’s conference theme “Progressing to adapt or adapting to progress” describes every one of you. No matter how skilled you are in comparison to your fellow delegates, at the end of this conference you will have one thing in common, which is that you have all progressed in some way and learned something new. Conferences like West Lake MUN always provide you with the opportunity to further refine your debating skills, gain a greater understanding of the issues of debate around the world, and of course, form alliances and make new friends.
If you have any questions or concerns, you can contact me via email at fiona.jahnz@ds-shanghai.de and of course, you can contact your deputy presidents as well. I’m looking forward to meeting all of you and of course, to the fruitiest debate.
Esteemed delegates, student officers, directors, and honoured guests, my name is Livia O’Hare, and I will be your deputy president for the Crisis Committee of West Lake MUN XIX. I am currently a freshman enrolled at Hangzhou International School, and WLMUN XIX marks my first time chairing a committee. MUN has always been an environment where I can expand my knowledge, test my limits, and meet new people. I have been motivated countless times by the remarkable delegates and chairs I have encountered from all around the world. I hope this crisis experience will inspire you as it has inspired me to continue your MUN journey and strive to be the best delegate you can be. A word of advice for each delegate is to not to be afraid to speak up; your ideas are what make each conference valuable and unique in its own way. I anticipate that we can make this conference a memorable experience filled with joy, lively debates, and new insights. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me at ohal67362@hisdragons.org.cn. I’m looking forward to our fruitful debates in November!
