President
Alina Kruppe

Welcome to the United Lunar Nations committee at West Lake MUN XIX!

My name is Alina Kruppe, and I am a senior at the German School Shanghai. It is both an honor and a privilege to serve as your president for this year’s conference.

Having participated in 11 conferences thus far, this marks my first time chairing an official forum, a milestone I approach with great excitement and responsibility. Whether you're stepping into your very first conference, building on past experience, or already feel confident in your MUN skills, I encourage you to fully embrace the opportunities ahead because no matter your level, this space is yours to grow, to challenge, and to contribute. If there’s one thing I wish I had done sooner as a delegate, it’s speaking up when I had something to say. It’s okay to feel nervous, but I promise, speaking up will help you grow far more than staying silent ever could. So here’s my advice to you: Don’t hold back.

I value a fruitful debate as much as your comfort and enjoyment, so should you have any questions or concerns, big or small, feel free to reach out to me anytime via email at alina.kruppe@outlook.com.

I’m truly looking forward to meeting each of you and can’t wait to see the energy, creativity, and insight you’ll bring to our committee.

with warm regards,

Alina Kruppe

Deputy-President
Derek Xu

Esteemed delegates, student officers, and guests. My name is Derek, I am currently a junior at Hangzhou International School, and it will be an honor to serve as your deputy-president for this conference. Welcome to the United Lunar Nations (ULN) of West Lake MUN XIX. I am a beginner chair with no past experience of chairing, but I can confidently say that this won’t be an impacting aspect in any negative way. I have been to multiple conferences, and even some online ones back in the days of the pandemic, and these conferences gave me the valuable experience and confidence to become a student officer for WLMUN XIX. I would say that please communicate any problems, concerns, questions, or advice that you may have before and during the conference. You can contact me through my e-mail: xuwe64021@hisdragons.org.cn. I look forward to meeting each and every one of you as well as the exciting debate from all the delegates.

Deputy-President
Lydia Yu

Greetings, Delegates!
My name is Lydia Yu, and I am honored to serve as deputy president for United Lunar Nations. MUN has always been essential to me, as I have participated in MUN since 7th grade, and attended multiple conferences across Asia. I truly believe in the transformative power of MUN to develop essential skills beyond the classroom.
In this three-day conference, I will be presiding over our committee's debate on establishing international frameworks for atmospheric rights—a topic of profound importance as humanity venture into a new era of space exploration and commercial activity. This topic is uniquely intriguing because it sits at the intersection of environmental ethics, economic development, and the future of space law. We are tasked with creating precedent for a resource that is both essential for life and a potential commodity. My primary goal is to ensure that ULN’s debates are not only rigorous and insightful but also inclusive and diplomatic. I encourage you all to be motivated in your policy-making, to engage actively in negotiation, and to strive for a comprehensive and equitable resolution. I look forward to making this committee a memorable one. If you have any inquiries or concerns, feel free to contact me. See you then, delegates!
