Greetings, delegates!
My name is Hayden Chen, a sophomore at Shanghai American School Pudong, and it is my honor to serve as Crisis Committee Deputy President for WLMUNXX, marking my fourth year debating in MUN.
Throughout my experience, the Crisis Committee has always been my favorite due to its unique and immersive nature, as delegates navigate through pivotal moments that have shaped human society, bearing the weight of decision as they imagine the consequences every action holds.
The theme of this conference, “seconds to midnight, miles to go” reflects a profound analysis of the status quo where we sit ever so close to catastrophe. I invite delegates to craft realistic proposals that emphasize the urgency of the situation, acknowledging how far the miles ahead truly stretch and the gravity of the situation at hand.
I look forward to witnessing engaging debates, intense decisions, and inventive backroom notes throughout the conference. See you all in November!
Esteemed delegates, student officers, directors, and honoured guests, welcome to Crisis of West Lake MUN XX. I am Harry, an 11th grader from Hangzhou International School, and this is my 5th year participating in the Model United Nations. During this journey, I participated in 14 MUN conferences as a delegate. I consider this journey to have had a positive effect on my understanding of international relations and politics as well as my speaking skills. To all delegates, I hope that this conference catalyzes or substantiates the journey of growth you are on as well. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns via email at HUAH64001@hisdragons.org.cn. I look forward to seeing you all in November.
